Buzz Lightyear Party Guide
Ideas for planning your Buzz Lightyear Party

  • Make your own favors. You will be able to put together better goody bags yourself for a better price than if you buy them from the party supply store.

  • For the time of your party: Keep party to 2-3 hours. For very young children, consider typical nap times when planning the time of day.
  • The party kits DO usually come with invitations. BUT, you should consider trying Evite to manage your party. It's easy, free to use and takes the headache out of keeping track of who's coming and even gives you a place to put a wish list if you want. Or make your own invitations using Buzz Lightyear Clipart and print them yourself, or use the invitations you can find on our Crafts page. Send out invitations 2 weeks or more before your party.

  • Rule of thumb for # of guests is your child's age + 2. If you end up with more than 15 it will probably be overwhelming for your child.
  •
  • Consider renting a jumpy/jumper for the party with a space or rocket theme
  •
  • Ask your cake maker to put stars and planets on your cake and then use a small Buzz Lightyear figure for a decoration, along with a rocket and little green men (if you can find them!). More cake ideas at the bottom of this page.
  •
  • Plan some activities (try to have all kids win a prize)
  •
    • Pin the nose/ear/arm etc on Mr Potato Head
    •
    • Find the Little Green Men scavenger hunt (provide a clue list for the hiding places of the LGM)
    • Print out the coloring pages and get sparkly glue, confetti, markers
    • Plan more activities than you will need, and have some "islands" so children can do activities on their own motivation
    •
    • Make Mr and Mrs Potato head out of various pieces of pre cut paper
    •
    • Have a "freeze" game where the kids have to freeze as if they were toys when a person comes. Kids who move are out until there is a winner.
  • If you are serving food, use some themed ideas
    • Pizza (from Pizza Planet, of course!)
    • Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches in the shape of stars (cookie cutter)
    • Rocket shaped cookies
    •
    • An easy cake idea is to make Andy's bed with a headboard and all the Toy Story characters
  • Consider having a family friend dress up as Buzz Lightyear and show up to the party.
  •
  • Keep it simple so you can have fun too.
